  2. Select Portal from the right panel.
  3. Choose one of the portal types to apply. You can see descriptions of the three portal types below.

Three Types of Portals

1. Move to another map within this Space

This moves users from their current map to another map within the same Space.

  1. Select a map in the Map to Move to dropdown list.
  2. Set the target area by choosing from the Target Area (optional) dropdown list. If a target area is not designated, users will appear at the map’s spawn point.
  3. You can have a name appear above a portal to tell users where it will take them. Enter a name for the portal in the Display Name (optional) box.
  4. Set the trigger method.
  5. Press F: This option causes the portal to only trigger when a user presses F.
Move automatically: This option causes the portal to trigger when a user steps on the tile.
  6. You can make the portal invisible by clicking the Hide portal object button.

2. Move to a designated area within the map

This moves users from the portal to a designated area within the same map. The Map Location function is used to designate areas.

  1. You must set a map location first.
  2. Select the designated map location from the Target Area dropdown list.

  4. Set the trigger method.
  5. Press F: This option causes the portal to only trigger when a user presses F.
Move automatically: This option causes the portal to trigger when a user steps on the tile.
  6. You can make the portal invisible by clicking the Hide portal object button.

3. Move to an outside Space

This moves users from the current Space to a different Space.

image
  1. Input only the Space ID portion from the destination’s URL into the ID of outside Space to move to box.
  2. 💡
The Space ID appears in the Space URL like so: https://zep.us/SpaceID. If the entire URL is entered instead of just the Space ID, the portal will not work.
  3. If you want to move to a specific point in the other Space, you must set up a designated map location at that point. In the other Space, use a Map Location tile and give the area a name in the Area Name box. Then, you need to enter the same name in the Target Area box in the Space you added the portal. Area names are case-sensitive, so make sure they are entered exactly the same way in each place.
