Embed Media in the Map

You can embed websites or video into the map. This is a great way to create something like a video screen.

  1. Click on Tile effects in the top panel.
  2. Select YouTube from the right panel.
  3. Enter the link of the video you want to embed in the YouTube Link to Embed box.
  4. Enter a value in the Width and Height boxes. The value of width and height are measured in tiles and each tile is 32px x 32px.
  5. YouTube videos often have a screen ratio of 16:9, so maintaining that ratio is generally a good idea.

  6. Select the play method.
    1. Press play to start the video
    2. Play video immediately
    3. ⚠️
It is recommended that only one autoplay video be embedded in a map.

  3. Enter a link to open in the Website to Connect box.
  4. There are three options to embed a link. Choose one of the options.
    • Open in a new window: This option opens the website in a new window.
      • Arrange: Using this dropdown menu, you can select how and where you wish to display the pop-up.
    • Open in a new tab: This option opens the website in a new tab.
    • Embed in designated area: This option opens the website in a designated area within the map.
      • If you choose this option, you will need to enter a value in the Width and Height boxes. The value of width and height are measured in tiles and each tile is 32px x 32px.
  5. Enter a name in the Display Name (optional) box. This field allows you to display a name above the portal object for the web link.
  6. Set the trigger method.
  7. Press F: This option causes the portal to only trigger when a user presses F.
Move automatically: This option causes the portal to trigger when a user steps on the tile.
  8. You can make the portal invisible by clicking the Hide portal object button.
⚠️
Placing a link or opening a new window may not be possible in the following situations:
  • The URL link is an HTTP address.
  • The original site blocks embedding.

As many websites do not allow web embedding, we recommend using the "Open website in a new tab" function instead.
